The location of the festival, Plovdiv, may only be Bulgaria’s second largest city, but when it comes to culture it comes second to none. Formed by an 8,000 year old history, it is distinguished as Europe’s oldest still-inhabited city. And it has a lot to show for it.
It prides itself on Thracian, Greek and Roman heritage, a UNESCO World Heritage beautiful Old Town, a stunning Roman Amphitheater and an ancient Roman Stadium which will host the DroneUp festival.
But it’s Plovdiv’s lively arts and culture scenes that make the city attractive. Being nominated as the European Capital of Culture in 2019, Plovdiv stands out with its modern and diverse cultural spectrum, hosting countless art events and festivals.
You’re in for a real treat strolling around Plovdiv’s laissez-faire pedestrian streets and enjoying its many more than affordable cafés, restaurants, museums and clubs, making just one more great reason to join the DroneUp Festival this summer.
